Freelance Writer
Background
I've had quite a career in various industries, but writing has always remained my passion.
I studied Creative Writing at Columbia College in Chicago and cut my teeth freelancing on various projects throughout the years.
The majority of my freelance writing career comes from the online journalism world at JoBlo.com, one of the leading film and entertainment websites, writing news and features.
Eventually, I "graduated" to attending and reporting on feature film set visits, the San Diego Comic Convention for five years, and conducting interviews at various press junkets.
In 2015, I left JoBlo to start my own site, BingeMedia.net, which is primarily an entertainment podcast network, although occasionally we have published written material.
I've also spent a few years in the radio broadcasting industry in the production/programming department writing ad copy (as well as other non-writing related duties).
And all in between, I've ghostwritten blogs, website bios, about pages, newsletters, cover letters and MLS descriptions on an ad hoc basis.
Freelancing in the entertainment world taught me many things, but here are three of the most important: to have thick skin, to understand and write copy for a specific audience, and how to work under a deadline.
